Where are you from?

I am from a small town in south central Nebraska called Franklin. There are about 900 people who live there.

What and where are you studying?

I study interior design at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

What do you do at PDI?

I do a lot of things at PDI. I organize and sort fabric and tile, catalogue and make sure everything is up-to-date. I create drawings for the design team for client appointments. I also have been on a few construction site tours. So, I get to see the actual house in-process, instead of just seeing the drawings on paper. Just recently, I have been handling Showroom inventory. For example, checking in everything new that comes into the studio, filing damage claims, when needed and making price tags.

Do you have a favorite color?

I’ve always liked a variety of colors. I think having multiple colors that go well together are my favorites (i.e. dark blue, maroon, and tan). If I had to choose just one color, it would probably have to be purple. My room is done in purple.

What is one color you don’t like incorporating into design?

I don’t have one!

What is your dream job?

If money was not an issue, my dream job would be restoring historic homes. I love taking historic home tours and learning the history of the houses and the people who lived there. My favorite part of older homes is the woodworking detail and the staircases. These homes are actually what got me into Interior Design. I wanted to be able to walk into a home and know the correct way to restore it. So, I did some research on the best degree to do this and interior design came up. I would also love to do something with sustainability and green design-build!

What is your favorite thing about interior design?

My favorite thing about Interior Design is the process. I love to go through multiple, different ideas and filter them down to create a space that a client loves. In Design school, I enjoy getting feedback from my peers on a project because they make me think of different ways to improve and enhance my projects. I’m always up for a challenge!

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I love to bake and cook! I can make a pretty good pie with my family recipe.
