VICKI'S BATHROOM CONVERSIONS

As a designer, I love that my work is never repetitive or boring. Each job is interesting and unique which allows me the opportunity to provide my client with a space that is not only creative but functional. I’m in the process of remodeling a home for a client that I needed to incorporate features that give him the independence he’s wanting but also provides him with the safety features that are necessary.

An example of this is in the master bedroom and bathroom area. The picture shows how the shower floor is lower than the main bathroom floor. When the tile is installed in both areas, it will provide a seamless floor so that it is barrier-free. The floor coming into the bathroom from the bedroom is this way as well. My client will be able to use a walker or a wheelchair without any boundaries.

Another feature is that the shower door swings both directions, which will make it easier for access into the shower and out of the shower. As you can see in the second photo, blocking has been added to accommodate necessary handrails in the shower area as well as the main bathroom area. It isn’t just the bathroom area that’s been changed. Every element on the main floor has been considered in this remodel so that the client can use and enjoy the home for as long as they want to do so with peace of mind.

SUPPORT LB 1068 - The Voluntary Registration of Interior Designers

Katrina, Carmen, and Laurie were at the capitol for the committee hearing recently. We are currently working on getting the title of "Registered Interior Designer" for the state of Nebraska for several reasons. The most important reason is it will allow for highly qualified registered designers who have an interior design degree and have passed a certification exam to have a stamp and seal to submit non-structural drawings for permits in the city.
