First, hang up some drapery. Not only can drapery make the room feel more inviting, but it can also help block the cold air from coming in during the fall/winter months. Drapery also helps keep heat out by blocking the sun in the spring/summer months. Getting the drapery lined can add an extra layer of protection. Plus it helps the main fabric lay nicer.

Second, replace all incandescent light fixtures with LED fixtures. LED light bulbs last longer than incandescent light bulbs and they are more energy efficient. LED lights are now designed to have a much warmer tone than when they first came out. No longer are they the bright white light color that made you feel like you were in an insane asylum.

Last but not least, lay down a rug. A rug can add a lot of texture to a space, which will help warm up the space. It is always nice to walk across a soft rug after walking on a hard, cold surface (like hardwood, LVT, Etc.). The rug not only adds warmth to the space but also absorbs sounds. The most effected places to absorb sound is with the flooring and ceiling materials. So no more loud creaking noises.
